Origin and Production
- Region and Winery: The wine originates from the Tarragona (DO) region in Catalonia, Spain, produced by the historic De Muller winery, founded in 1851.
- Grape Varieties: It is primarily made from White Grenache and Macabeo grapes. The base wine is fermented until dry (no residual sugar) and then fortified with alcohol to an approximate 19% ABV.
- Aging Process: The wine is aged oxidatively in old oak barrels using a Solera system. This long exposure to air during aging (the "rancio" style) is crucial for developing its complex profile and robust, dry character.
